How do Evacuation Chairs Work?

May 23rd, 2011

Whether you’re a small office with limited staff, or a large corporate company who have a regular foot flow of customers throughout the day, it’s important you have contingency plans in place should an emergency happen during working hours. Many businesses will carry out regular fire tours ensuring everyone is aware of the nearest fire exits and procedures that are in place; but along with such plans it’s important that you have specialist equipment such as evacuation chairs which will help with a safe and efficient evacuation process.

Here at K5 we’ve been providing businesses throughout the country with a wide range of evacuation products, including evac chairs since the early 2000’s, as we understand the importance of a quick and efficient evacuation in an emergency situation.

On first appearances the evacuation chair may not look as though it’ll be very sturdy, but they’ve been designed to safely hold loading weights up to and exceeding 150kg – through proper use they can drastically reduce the evacuation time.

By gripping onto the stairs and effectively turning them into a ramp to allow for a smooth, safe and controlled dismount, the chairs we supply are guaranteed to ensure those that have difficulty getting up and down stairs don’t struggle in an emergency situation.

To ensure the user is safe and secure during the evacuation, all chairs come complete with safety straps and a range of breaking systems which can be utilised by the person being evacuated and those assisting.

Our team at K5 are not only able to supply you with a range of evacuation products, but we’re also on hand to provide training for the safe use of such products. So should an emergency occur in your premises, your staff will be aware of how to safely use the products. If you’d like to receive training on the safe use of evacuation chairs or you wish to purchase a variety of specialist evacuation products, please don’t hesitate to contact us via our online enquiry form.
